With Erie\u2019s America 250 and Pennsylvania 250 celebrations just weeks away, the community is preparing for a festive start to Independence Day activities, highlighted by music, family fun and patriotic pride along the waterfront.<\/p>\n
While fireworks are scheduled for July 3, the celebration continues on July 4 with the kickoff of the Erie Philharmonic\u2019s summer concert series at Bayview Park. Set against the scenic backdrop of Presque Isle Bay, the performance will feature the orchestra under a large tent overlooking the water.<\/p>\n
Led by conductor Daniel Meyer, the Erie Philharmonic will present its popular \u201cPatriotic Pops\u201d program \u2014 a concert filled with American classics and patriotic favorites designed to celebrate the nation\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n
The free concert begins at 2:30 p.m., but festivities will start earlier in the day. Local musician Josh Travis will open the event with a performance at 1 p.m., setting the tone for an afternoon of entertainment.<\/p>\n
Families are encouraged to arrive early to take part in hands-on activities, including an \u201cinstrument petting zoo,\u201d where children can explore and try out musical instruments. Additional family-friendly fun will take place before the orchestra takes the stage.<\/p>\n
