(WHTM) \u2014 Pennsylvania State Police are warning Midstaters about a recent rise in crypto scams in the area.<\/p>\n

Troopers say they have received several reports of scams in which victims are told by scammers over the phone that there is a warrant out for their arrest from the U.S. District Court, and they must post bail payments to crypto accounts through Bitcoin Coinhub kiosks.<\/p>\n

The scammers, Troopers said, will keep the victim on the phone for hours, claiming there is a \u201cgag\u201d order, they can only speak to a \u201csheriff,\u201d and victims are directed to different Bitcoin kiosks.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice will NEVER ask for payments through crypto accounts,\u201d Tpr. Megan Frazer announced<\/a> on X in response to the scams. \u201cIf you think you may have a warrant, call your local law enforcement to verify.\u201d<\/p>\n
