PITTSBURGH \u2014 A house caught fire in Pittsburgh\u2019s Upper Hill neighborhood and spread to a neighboring home on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
At around 7 a.m., firefighters were called to the 3300 block of Webster Avenue. <\/p>\n
When crews arrived, flames were coming from the third floor of the home where the fire originated. It then spread to the third floor of the home next door. <\/p>\n
Residents Benjamin and Charlene Wormesby said they quickly evacuated after noticing flames in their neighbor\u2019s house.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we looked up, it was like, okay, get my grandbaby out the house, everybody out the house,\u201d Benjamin Wormesby said.<\/p>\n
The couple, who have lived in their home for 37 years, said their house has water and smoke damage.<\/p>\n
Friend Trudy Evans said she rushed to the scene after hearing about the fire.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn my way over here, and I saw all these fire trucks, I was tearing up because it was Char,\u201d Evans said. \u201cBut when I saw Char, she was okay. So now I\u2019m okay knowing that she\u2019s okay.\u201d<\/p>\n
Battalion Chief Ed Farley said everyone who lived in the homes got out safely, though one firefighter suffered a knee injury.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did have a firefighter twist his knee. He\u2019s being evaluated right now, but he seems to be fine,\u201d Farley said.<\/p>\n
Three people who lived in the home where the fire originated are now displaced.<\/p>\n
Despite the damage to their home, the Wormesbys said they have no plans to leave.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not going to move. That\u2019s for damn sure,\u201d Benjamin Wormesby said with a laugh.<\/p>\n
Charlene Wormesby said she is grateful no one was seriously hurt.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of water damage and smoke damage. But everybody\u2019s okay. That\u2019s all that counts,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The fire was put under control around 7:30 a.m. The fire is now under investigation. <\/p>\n
