Philadelphia police officer convicted of perjury for false testimony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A jury convicted a former Philadelphia police officer with perjury for falsely testifying under oath.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">District Attorney Larry Krasner made the announcement on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The conviction stems from a traffic stop in Northwest Philadelphia in April 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Former Officer Daniel Levitt said he saw a gun sticking out of a bag and a passenger was charged for not having a license to carry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But Krasner says evidence shows the gun was not in view.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Why does it matter? It matters because the case goes away if you tell the truth. Why does it go away?
