{"id":210332,"date":"2026-06-04T07:28:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T07:28:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/210332\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T07:28:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T07:28:15","slug":"temples-top-public-safety-officer-is-stepping-down-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/210332\/","title":{"rendered":"Temple\u2019s top public safety officer is stepping down \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Temple University&#8217;s vice president for Public Safety is stepping down at the end of the month. <\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Griffin has been with the school for nearly four years and she was brought in after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/latif-williams-samuel-sam-collington-murder-temple-university-philadelphia\/3913637\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/latif-williams-samuel-sam-collington-murder-temple-university-philadelphia\/3913637\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the 2021 murder of Temple student Sam Collington<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>During her time in the role, she has faced some criticism for not doing enough to hire and keep officers. <\/p>\n<p>On June 3, <a href=\"https:\/\/now.temple.edu\/announcements\/2026-06-03\/jennifer-griffin-step-down-vice-president-public-safety\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/now.temple.edu\/announcements\/2026-06-03\/jennifer-griffin-step-down-vice-president-public-safety\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Temple University President John Fry told the school community<\/a> that Griffin is celebrated for dozens of operational and technical enhancements, partnerships and engagement with the North Philadelphia community. <\/p>\n<p>There will be a national search for her replacement but an interim vice president of public safety has not yet been named.  <\/p>\n<p>Griffin&#8217;s last day is set for June 30, 2026. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Temple University&#8217;s vice president for Public Safety is stepping down at the end of the month.
