NAZARETH, Pa. — Friday marks the last day of school for many students and staff in our area and for one 70-year-old crossing guard in Nazareth, it’ll be his last day on the job.

With a wave and a smile, Bob Frings greets drivers and safely crosses students at the corner of Center and New Streets on their way to and from school — as he has every day for the last 10 years.

A familiar face with the power to instantly brighten your day.

“Bob is very friendly. He waves to everybody. He makes you stop and look. He always checks in with us,” said mom Christine Fisher. Fisher has encountered Bob twice a day for the last four years as she walks her son Kyle to school.

Once school lets out on Friday, Bob is putting down the vest and stop sign for good. He’ll be retiring a month shy of his 71st birthday.

“I’m going to miss a lot of people. Interacting with everybody really. You know? I really am,” Frings told 69 News.

Bob announced his retirement on social media and has been flooded with hundreds of comments.

“I’m so sad. He’s always been my favorite crossing guard,” said Tessa Daubert, a freshman at Nazareth High School.

“I’ve been very, very lucky in this community,” Frings said.

Bob’s next mission? Taking care of his new grandchild who is due this summer.

[14
214,153,155,154,5750
post-210956","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-bethlehem","tag-_homepage_top_stories","tag-bethlehem","tag-bethlehem-headlines","tag-bethlehem-news","tag-nazareth-northampton-area
["GET
