Two events are scheduled for downtown Reading on Friday.<\/p>\n
The day begins with the annual World War II Mid-Day Parade in the 500 block of Penn Street from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
The parade, presented by Downtown Reading and the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, kicks off the 35th Annual World War II Weekend through Sunday at Reading Regional Airport.<\/p>\n
The parade will feature historic military vehicles, World War II reenactors and music by the Snack Club Quartet.<\/p>\n
Food will be available for sale.<\/p>\n
Free parking for those attending is available at the 4th & Cherry Garage at 29 S. Fourth St.<\/p>\n
Following the parade, Reading Movies 11 & IMAX will offer a special showing of \u201cBlue Angels.\u201d Tickets are $1 and are available online plus a service fee applies and at the theatre box office without a service fee.<\/p>\n
The activities continue with the city\u2019s First Friday Block Party in the 600 block of Penn Street from 5\u00a0 to 9p.m.<\/p>\n
The event features music, local businesses and community vendors, and activities for all ages, including Latin dance lessons, street soccer led by Reading High School soccer coach Gina Cardenas and a performance by Orquesta Tropikal at 6:30.<\/p>\n
