A recent message has come out from the Erie Humane Society which has announced that Executive Director Joe Lang will step down from his position effective July 19.<\/p>\n
Lang recently informed the organization’s Board of Directors of his decision to leave the role. In a statement, the board thanked him for his leadership and contributions during what it described as a period of significant change and challenge for the 134-year-old organization.<\/p>\n
The board also expressed appreciation for the advance notice provided by Lang, saying it will help ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition.<\/p>\n
The Erie Humane Society’s Board of Directors is actively working to identify an interim executive director, and stated updates will be shared as decisions are made.<\/p>\n
During the transition, the organization stated that its priorities remain unchanged, including supporting shelter animals, caring for staff members, serving the community, and ensuring the long-term stability and success of the Erie Humane Society.<\/p>\n
Board members also acknowledged the important role played by supporters of the organization, including volunteers, donors, foster families, and advocates.<\/p>\n
The organization said the continued support of the community remains essential to carrying out its mission and helping animals in need throughout the Erie region.<\/p>\n
Erie News Now has reached out to Joe, and he stated that he still plans to stay involved with the shelter through volunteering and fostering.<\/p>\n

Lang joined\u00a0EHS in\u00a0July of 2025, after\u00a0holding the role of Development Director for\u00a0Lakeshore Community Services. \u00a0<\/p>\n
