ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Two people were caught on camera, armed with weapons, smashing their way into a Lehigh Valley swim club.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Northwest Swim Club of Bethlehem is back to operating as normal after a break-in.<\/p>\n
The vandals left behind damage in room after room, even throwing furniture to the bottom of the pool.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They can in the dead of night, two people caught on video, armed with tools, including a hammer, trying to pry open a window at the club on Pennsylvania Avenue.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The vandals were successful. Morning light shows a ransacked swim club and thousands of dollars worth of damage, including in the medical room and the food stand.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Picnic tables and benches were thrown into the bottom of the pool.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“This is a whole other level though. This is, they broke through glass, broke through a door, vandalized. I’m guessing they also took some stuff as well,” said Elyan Sanchez, who lives near the club.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The next task at hand is to restock the snack stand that was depleted, and to fix up the appearance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Those kids shouldn’t have done something like that. It’s unreasonable. It’s a club where people come together and swim. I’ve seen some of my friends come here before with their families and swim and it’s just irresponsible and not a good thing to do for the public,” said Sanchez.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Jill Goetz runs the Flower Tent, within walking distance of the Northwest Swim Club.<\/p>\n
She worries what could happen to her inventory if the suspects aren’t caught.<\/p>\n
