<\/p>\nAfter a series of illegal car meetups that escalated into violence, Philadelphia police said Friday they are following through on their promise to crack down.<\/p>\n
The events, referred to as “Project X,” resulted in several officers being assaulted in September 2024. In response, the Philadelphia Police Department formed the Car Meet Investigative Group in May.<\/p>\n
“We have confiscated and seized 60 cars, made over 50 arrests, given over 250 violations,” Inspector Raymond Evers said.<\/p>\n
That enforcement continued Friday with new arrests and court actions. David French, who was in court for his role in last year’s Project X, was taken back into custody after police learned he helped organize another illegal meetup this September.<\/p>\n
Daniel Clark was arrested in New Jersey for his involvement in three car meets over the summer.<\/p>\n
Police also issued a warrant for Kendrick Stewart, who they say hosted multiple meetups over the past year.<\/p>\n

Deputy Commissioner of Patrol Operations Michael Cram credited the task force for the recent progress.<\/p>\n
“The work they’ve done have really changed the game for us and for the individuals involved,” Cram said.<\/p>\n
Despite the crackdown, police say they are aware of another illegal meetup planned for this weekend.<\/p>\n
Officers executed search warrants on Friday afternoon targeting two brothers believed to be behind the event.<\/p>\n
“If you come, we’re going to grab you. We’re going to take your cars,” Cram said. “Stay out of the city. Find something more productive to do.”<\/p>\n
Cram said he expects people to show up this weekend despite the warning. He reminded spectators that they can also be fined – a ticket carries a $300 penalty.<\/p>\n
