It was dicey there for a while in May, but strawberry lovers can finally get excited for the 2026 growing season. Local strawberries are for sale at farm stands dotting the county. Pick-your-own, however, has not yet started.<\/p>\n
Those who want to pick their own berries should keep an eye on their favorite farms’ Facebook pages and websites, or give them a call. Those fields should open within a matter of days.<\/p>\n
Finnell Farms<\/a> in Harborcreek’s phone message says to “call back in a couple of days” for picking information, but they are selling already-picked berries at 7840 Buffalo Road in Harborcreek.<\/p>\n Caleb Haines, owner of Berry Happy Acres<\/a>, 12251 Shigo Road, North East, said this spring “was a weird one.”<\/p>\n He said the weather was warm in April, which encouraged the plants to start growing, but cold days in May slowed them down. That seems to have “evened out,” he said.<\/p>\n “Everything’s about caught up now,” Haines said.<\/p>\n He said their stand has strawberries for sale, and they sell out daily. Berry Happy Acres do not offerpick-your-own berries at this time.<\/p>\n Mason Farms<\/a> has picked strawberries at all of its stands, including 839 Peninsula Drive, 4115 Old French Road, and 8603 West Lake Road in Lake City, all open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. They have also opened a new Edinboro location at Route 6N and Interstate 79 next to Country Fair, which also has strawberries and other produce.
