PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — He’s painted in 18 countries and 22 states. But for Alloyius McIlwaine, there’s no place like home.<\/p>\n

McIlwaine, who was raised in North Philadelphia and now lives in West Philadelphia, has created hundreds of murals in the city.<\/p>\n

He was recently tapped to be the head artist in a project to celebrate a summer of celebrations.<\/p>\n

The mural, titled, ‘Welcome to Philly,’ is located at 10th Street and Market Street.<\/p>\n

The city is expecting a historic year for tourism with the FIFA World Cup, the United States Semiquincentennial, and the MLB All-Star Game. McIlwaine’s design gives visitors a crash course in Philadelphia culture.<\/p>\n

The project is a collaboration between the Mural Arts Program, Center City District, HBSE, and Comcast.<\/p>\n
