ALLENTOWN, Pa. – An Allentown man was charged on Friday with child rape and sexual assault charges, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Christian Tavares, 25, of Allentown was charged with felony charges of Rape, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Endangering the Welfare of a Child (child less than age 6), Indecent Assault – Victim less than 13 years of age, and corruption of minors, according to the DA’s Office.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officials say that Tavares was arraigned on Friday and was freed on $50,000 unsecure bail. Tavares’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 18.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The rape and sexual assault occurred in 2015 in a home on S. 9th Street in Allentown, according to officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police say that on April 29, 2025, they received a report from a victim who said he was sexually assaulted by Tavares when the victim was 5 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The victim underwent a forensic interview and said Tavares raped and sexually assaulted him, the press release says.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The victim said that he came forwards years after the fact following the death of a sibling, according to officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This case was investigated by Allentown Police Detective Suzanne Toth and will be prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Sara A.
