The band did not release details about where the crash occurred, what type of vehicle was involved or whether anyone else was injured.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tonight\u2019s performance in Philadelphia,\u201d the band said in a statement posted to its official website Sunday, June 7.<\/p>\n
The postponed show was scheduled for the Fillmore Philadelphia. The band asked ticket holders to keep their tickets while it works through \u201cnext steps,\u201d saying another update would be provided as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
The incident came less than a month after Echo & the\u00a0Bunnymen performed May 15 at San Francisco\u2019s Masonic Auditorium as part of its \u201cMore Songs To Learn & Sing\u201d North American tour.<\/p>\n
That San Francisco stop featured much of the band\u2019s best-known catalog, including \u201cThe Killing Moon,\u201d \u201cThe Cutter,\u201d \u201cBring On the Dancing Horses,\u201d \u201cLips Like Sugar\u201d and \u201cSeven Seas.\u201d<\/p>\n
Echo & the Bunnymen, founded in Liverpool in 1978 and still led by McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant, helped define the brooding, melodic edge of post-punk and new wave in the 1980s. The group\u2019s best-known songs remain staples of alternative-rock radio and streaming playlists.<\/p>\n
The band\u2019s current North American run is scheduled to continue through June 19.<\/p>\n
As of Sunday evening, the band\u2019s official tour page still listed the\u00a0upcoming dates in Brooklyn on Monday, June 8, Boston on Thursday, June 11, and Toronto on Saturday, June 13. The band had not announced whether those shows would be affected.<\/p>\n
