Motown icons The Four Tops will headline the opening night of the Allentown Fair Sept. 2, backed by the Allentown Symphony.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Great Allentown Fair has always been about bringing exceptional entertainment to our community, and this performance is truly something special,\u201d said Jessica Ciecwisz, the fair\u2019s Marketing & Entertainment Manager, said in a release. \u201cThe combination of The Four Tops\u2019 legendary catalog and the artistry of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra will create an unforgettable evening for music lovers of all generations.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Four Tops recorded 24 U.S. Top 40 hits during their 70-year career, including \u201cI Can\u2019t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),\u201d \u201cReach Out I\u2019ll Be There,\u201d \u201cBaby I Need Your Loving,\u201d and \u201cIt\u2019s the Same Old Song,\u201d<\/p>\n
Today, the group is comprised of Lawrence Payton Jr., Theo Peoples, Ronnie McNeir and Michael Brock.<\/p>\n
Joining The Four Tops will be the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, whose musicians will provide a rich symphonic backdrop to The Four Tops\u2019 iconic hits, creating a concert experience unlike any other.<\/p>\n
Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the fair\u2019s box office, which will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. All show tickets include fair admission.<\/p>\n
Other fair headliners are Stars, Stripes & Slams championship pro wrestling on Sept. 3, country star Warren Zeiders on Sept. 4, rock band All Time Low on Sept. 5 and LocalLegends Live, featuring local artists, on Sept. 6. The J&J Demolition Derby will once again close out the fair on Sept. 7.
