An anonymous, $75,000 gift to the nonprofit foundation that supports Bethlehem Area schools is proving welcome news as the state budget impasse and the federal government shutdown continue to cast uncertainty on school funding.<\/p>\n
The funds will be used to\u00a0\u201cpromote innovate teaching practices, enhance student learning environments, and address critical needs,\u201d the Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District said in a news release.<\/p>\n
Ed Broczkowski, president of foundation\u2019s Board of Trustees, said the donation is well-timed.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn these times of uncertainty for public education funding, this incredibly generous donation will greatly assist us in delivering our mission to support the students and staff of the BASD!\u201d Broczkowski said in the news release.<\/p>\n
The donation is one of the largest individual gifts the foundation has received.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis remarkable act of generosity underscores the power of community and belief in public education,\u201d Justin Amann, executive director of the foundation, said in the news release. \u201cAt The Foundation, we aim to be a light \u2014 offering hope, inspiration, and opportunity for every student and educator we serve. This gift will help us do exactly that.\u201d<\/p>\n
