{"id":214090,"date":"2026-06-08T23:47:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T23:47:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/214090\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T23:47:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T23:47:18","slug":"photos-show-trail-of-destruction-after-6-tornadoes-hit-pittsburgh-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/214090\/","title":{"rendered":"Photos show trail of destruction after 6 tornadoes hit Pittsburgh area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/tornado-confirmed-pittsburgh-area-saturday\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">six tornadoes<\/a>\u00a0and straight line winds, severe weather left a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/severe-storm-damage-cleanup-western-pennsylvania\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">trail of damage<\/a>\u00a0across the Pittsburgh area on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service has so far confirmed six tornadoes: three in Washington County, two in Fayette County and one in Westmoreland County. The tornadoes touched down near Ellsworth, Beallsville, Centerville, Brownsville, Star Junction and State Game Lands #296.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Based on damage reports, the National Weather Service said the area saw a &#8220;large swath&#8221; of straight line wind damage, with wind ranging from 60 mph to 80 mph.<\/p>\n<p>The strong winds brought down trees, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/pittsburgh-area-power-outages-severe-weather\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">knocking out power<\/a>\u00a0to tens of thousands of people.
