{"id":214292,"date":"2026-06-09T05:23:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T05:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/214292\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T05:23:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T05:23:11","slug":"consulting-firm-recommended-to-conduct-basd-redistricting-study-bethlehem-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/214292\/","title":{"rendered":"Consulting firm recommended to conduct BASD redistricting study | Bethlehem Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BETHLEHEM, Pa. \u2013 Members of the Bethlehem Area School District\u2019s board of directors heard a presentation Monday night about a study related to the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basdschools.org\/our-district\/about-basd\/planning-for-the-future-of-basd\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u201cdistrict design process.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The board\u2019s finance committee heard from educational consulting firm Steps To Achieve, which has been recommended to conduct a comprehensive enrollment, building utilization and boundary study to determine redistricting options.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSteps To Achieve is all about data, data analytics, and taking a look at data and presenting it to individuals, boards, to nonprofits,\u201d said Jane Coughenour, a former superintendent and K-12 principal who would lead the proposed project.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/go.boarddocs.com\/pa\/beth\/Board.nsf\/goto?open&amp;id=DUNK4Y501E60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">According to board documents,<\/a> the study would review and validate demographic data, develop 10-year enrollment projections, assess building capacity and utilization, gather community input and create five district design scenarios for board consideration.<\/p>\n<p>                    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfmz.com\/news\/area\/lehighvalley\/northampton-county\/bethlehem-area\/basd-approves-difficult-budget-with-4-property-tax-increase\/article_b55e1c4f-5ede-4087-8fe6-7311959f57fa.html\" class=\"tnt-asset-link\" aria-label=\"BASD approves &#x2018;difficult budget&#x2019; with 4% property tax increase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>                &#13;<br \/>\n                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAQAAAADCAQAAAAe\/WZNAAAAEElEQVR42mM8U88ABowYDABAxQPltt5zqAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==\" alt=\"BASD approves &#x2018;difficult budget&#x2019; with 4% property tax increase\" class=\"img-responsive lazyload full blur\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" data- data-\/><br \/>\n                <\/a><\/p>\n<p>             <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/6704c1a1b3193.image.jpg\" alt=\"\" aria-hidden=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"113\" width=\"200\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"tnt-summary\">Bethlehem Area School District\u2019s spending plan includes cutting numerous support staff and teaching positions through attrition and restructuring.<\/p>\n<p>District officials said nine firms submitted proposals and three finalists were interviewed before the recommendation was made. The cost of the study is not to exceed $108,500.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, the project would begin in August 2026 and continue through June 2027.
