Parks Frazier has been the Eagles\u2019 quarterbacks coach for just a few months but he was their passing game coordinator last season. So he has been around Jalen Hurts for a while now.<\/p>\n

And he really enjoys working with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s awesome,\u201d Frazier said this week. \u201cHe is as dedicated to winning and wants to do whatever it takes to win more than any quarterback I\u2019ve been around. He is phenomenal in the room, has really good questions, always wanting more. He is a sponge. So he\u2019s been great.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Eagles this offseason had a major shakeup to their offensive coaching staff when they hired Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator and then hired Josh Grizzard to be their passing game coordinator. One of the ripples of the massive shuffle was that Frazier was moved from his previous post as passing game coordinator to quarterbacks coach for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

That means working with Hurts 1-on-1 daily.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old Hurts is driven. And it can take a lot to coach a player with that kind of drive. Frazier said he\u2019s embracing that responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it just takes a lot of effort on your part,\u201d Frazier said. \u201cI personally enjoy working with players like that. They\u2019re going to push you to be your best. But like we talk about, that\u2019s just kind of the dynamic of the role. We work in the NFL. It\u2019s the highest class for our sport and I wouldn\u2019t want it any other way. It pushes you to be your best and you\u2019re constantly making sure you\u2019re out in front of things and you have good answers and you have really good, strong whys behind everything. That\u2019s really the biggest thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hurts wants to know the why.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That\u2019s an important part of being his coach. There\u2019s no doubt that Hurts can be headstrong but that quality is often viewed positively when things are going well. So for all the reporting you\u2019ve seen that some feel Hurts isn\u2019t very coachable, Frazier would disagree.<\/p>\n

And for what it\u2019s worth, so does Frazier\u2019s predecessor Scot Loeffler, who told the Toledo Blade<\/a> that he loved working with Hurts. Loeffler called Hurts \u201csuper coachable\u201d based on his experience last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Frazier, 34, joined the Eagles last year after a season with the Dolphins as an offensive assistant in 2024 and a season with the Panthers as a passing game coordinator in 2023. Before then, Frazier was with the Colts from 2018-22 in various roles, eventually taking over as interim offensive coordinator after Frank Reich was fired and replaced by Jeff Saturday.<\/p>\n

It was in Indianapolis where Frazier crossed paths with Nick Sirianni. The two were on the staff together from 2018-2020 before Sirianni took the head coaching job in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Even though a lot of the offensive coaching staff was turned over this offseason as Mannion takes control as the Eagles\u2019 offensive coordinator, the Eagles clearly liked Frazier because they kept him. It doesn\u2019t hurt that he has spent some time in a Shanahan-based scheme before too.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though you’re running a new system,\u201d Sirianni said earlier this offseason, \u201cthere’s a lot of things that you have to translate and you have to say, \u2018Hey, do we want to keep these words the same or these words the same for there to be less learning for the players?\u2019 They got to learn a scheme. So how have we done this in the past? He’s a good bridge, I guess, to say within that.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about the biggest difference from his role last year as passing game coordinator to his role this year as quarterbacks coach, Frazier first mentioned \u201cdirect communication\u201d with Hurts.<\/p>\n

There are other quarterbacks in the room, of course, and it\u2019s Frazier\u2019s job to coach Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee and rookie Cole Payton as well.<\/p>\n

But ultimately, Hurts is the starting quarterback. And there\u2019s a lot riding on his season and how he acclimates to the new offense the Eagles are going to run this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust like anybody, it\u2019s starting from the ground up,\u201d Frazier said. \u201cYou learn terminology, you learn what is my role in the offense, what are the most critical things for me in my position. Like I just said about Jalen, he is willing to do anything. He takes whatever is in front of him and he attacks it.
