City property owners, businesses and developers seeking to have land added to or removed from Reading\u2019s City Revitalization and Improvement Zone, or CRIZ, have until July 31 to submit applications for consideration during the 2026 map change cycle, city officials announced.<\/p>\n
The CRIZ authority is accepting requests to modify the boundaries of the state-designated economic development program that supports redevelopment and investment projects within designated areas of the city.<\/p>\n
Through the map change process, the authority may consider requests to add or remove parcels from the zone or adjust existing boundaries.<\/p>\n
Under state procedures governing the program, acreage added to the zone cannot exceed acreage removed from the zone.<\/p>\n
Properties located within the zone may be eligible to seek financial support for qualifying redevelopment projects.<\/p>\n
Interested property owners and developers are encouraged to participate in the process, Mayor Eddie Moran said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe CRIZ has helped drive investment and redevelopment in Reading, and we want to make sure it continues to support projects that move our city forward,\u201d Moran said. \u201cI encourage property owners, business owners and developers who are interested in the map change process to submit an application and share their vision for how their project can benefit Reading.\u201d<\/p>\n
Applicants must provide detailed information about the property, including its address, parcel identification number, acreage, ownership, current condition and existing uses.<\/p>\n
They also must describe any proposed development plans and explain how a map change would support the zone\u2019s economic development goals and benefit the community. Information about projected job creation, development timelines and prior development experience also is required.<\/p>\n
The authority may request additional information during its review.<\/p>\n
Proposed additions or removals must meet documentation requirements and undergo review by the authority before being considered at a public meeting.<\/p>\n
Requests will be evaluated by the authority for potential impact, readiness and consistency with the zone\u2019s overall development strategy.<\/p>\n
Final approval is not guaranteed and ultimately rests with the state through a separate state review process.<\/p>\n
Applications and supporting materials must be submitted by July 31.<\/p>\n
