SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa.- A long-awaited review of a data center project in Lehigh County has been delayed again.<\/p>\n
Project Atlas has been pulled from the Thursday night agenda of the South Whitehall Township Planning Commission.<\/p>\n
According to township manager Thomas Petrucci, South Whitehall is working to find a larger venue for the high number of attendees expected.<\/p>\n
The township will announce the details of the rescheduled meeting when plans are finalized, Petrucci told 69 News.<\/p>\n
This marks the second time the planning commission has postponed a scheduled review of the project.<\/p>\n
A meeting scheduled for February 12 was also cancelled; that time, the project was removed from the agenda in order for the applicant to address the comments township staff and consultants included in their initial 101-page review.<\/p>\n
Since then, the plan, targeting a 410-acre plot of land across from Parkland High School, has changed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The original plan called for six buildings totaling 5 million square feet; the newest submission shows three data center buildings, one administration building, and one warehouse building, for a total of 1.5 million square feet.<\/p>\n
Also, the anticipated permanent workforce was reduced from 440 to 250 employees. The original plan showed 966 parking spaces; the latest proposal has 399.<\/p>\n
