John Michael Lyons.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am extremely proud that Bensalem continues to recognize those who gave everything in defense of our country,&#8221; said Bensalem Township Council President Ed Tokmajian, one of the speakers at the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Tokmajian spoke about the bridge becoming a permanent reminder of Corp. Lyons&#8217; service, sacrifice, and the gratitude of the Bensalem community that will never forget.<\/p>\n<p>The county held the ceremony on Tuesday to honor Lyons, who was killed in action during the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n<p>The bridge is located over Poquessing Creek along Red Lion Lane in the township&#8217;s Andalusia section.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2022, Bucks County\u2019s Memorial Bridge Program has dedicated more than 20 county-owned bridges in memory of local soldiers lost in the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n<p>Administered in partnership with the Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (PAVVMF), the program was established to honor the 136 Bucks County residents lost in the war.<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" id=\"1586961-1781105452\" data-image=\"1586961-1781105452\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/bridge1.jpg\" data- \/> <\/p>\n<p>(Ed Tokmajian)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA \u2014 Bucks County Bridge No. 286 now has a new name.
