IT\u2019S THE HEAT PLUS THE CHANCE OF STORMS THIS AFTERNOON. BUT THIS MORNING I WANTED TO ADDRESS THE FOG, ESPECIALLY IN LEBANON AND LANCASTER COUNTIES WHERE IT\u2019S BEEN SET IN PRETTY THICK THIS MORNING. SO PLEASE BE MINDFUL IN THOSE TWO COUNTIES FOR THE LOWEST VISIBILITY IN THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY, VISIBILITY SHOULD IMPROVE, THOUGH WITHIN THE NEXT TWO HOURS. HERE\u2019S THE HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR THE COUNTIES IN ORANGE THAT STARTS AT 11:00 TODAY AND GOES UNTIL 8 P.M. FRIDAY. SO BACK TO BACK DAYS OF HIGH HEAT, HIGH HUMIDITY, MAKING IT FEEL LIKE 100 DEGREES EACH AFTERNOON. SO FOR TODAY, NOTICE OUR HIGH IS 90, BUT THE HEAT INDEX AT FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES GOING TO BE IN THE UPPER 90S. I THINK TOMORROW WE DO GET TO THE 100 MARK BECAUSE OUR AIR TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT WARMER. SO TODAY, TOMORROW, THE WORST OF THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY. IN ADDITION, WE HAVE THE CHANCE FOR STORMS. OUR TIMING TODAY IS 3 P.M. TO 9 P.M. MOVING FROM WEST TO EAST. SO JUST LIKE YESTERDAY, WE\u2019LL SEE SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS THAT COULD PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS, LARGE HAIL, HEAVY RAIN AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING DURING THE HEAT OF THE AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. HERE\u2019S THE PREDICTOR SHOWING US THAT TIMING. IT\u2019S FAIRLY QUIET THIS MORNING AND EVEN EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. BUT AFTER 3:00, THAT\u2019S WHEN OUR WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY OPENS FOR THESE STORMS TO ROLL INTO THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY. HERE WE ARE, RIGHT DURING THE EVENING RUSH WITH THE STORMS OVERHEAD, AND THEY EXIT OFF TO THE EAST AROUND SUNSET TODAY. NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST DETAILS 70 THIS MORNING, BUT 90 THIS AFTERNOON AND FEELING LIKE THE UPPER 90S STORMS STILL AROUND THIS EVENING. WARM MUGGINESS WE\u2019RE NOT GOING TO GET RID OF THAT AT ALL FOR TONIGHT, A REPEAT PERFORMANCE. WE HAVE 70S FOR LOWS. WE SEE SOME FOG FORMING UP. IT\u2019S GOING TO BE PARTLY CLOUDY, WARM AND MUGGY. AND TOMORROW STORMS AND HEAT. THE TWO MAJOR WEATHER PLAYERS ON THE TABLE HERE. IT\u2019S GOING TO FEEL LIKE 100 DEGREES TOMORROW WITH PARTLY SUNNY SKIES AND THOSE SCATTERED STORMS AGAIN IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE TEMPERATURES WELL INTO THE 70S AT 74 IN HARRISBURG, 72 IN LEWISTOWN, 75 IN GETTYSBURG. AND WHEN YOU FACTOR IN THE HIGH HUMIDITY, IT FEELS DOWNRIGHT TROPICAL. LOOK AT THESE DEW POINTS, 70. THOSE ARE THE HIGHEST DEW POINTS WE\u2019VE SEEN THIS YEAR. SO THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING ABOUT HOW HOT IT\u2019S GOING TO FEEL LATER TODAY. WE ARE IN THE STEAMY ZONE TODAY AND TOMORROW. BUT CHECK OUT SATURDAY. HERE\u2019S THE GOOD NEWS IF YOU\u2019RE NOT A FAN OF THE HUMIDITY, I THINK YOU WILL LIKE THAT HUMIDITY DROP COME THE WEEKEND. SUNDAY TURNS A LITTLE BIT STICKIER, BUT THEN HUMIDITY DROPS RIGHT BEHIND ANOTHER COLD FRONT EARLY NEXT WEEK. HERE\u2019S THE WEATHER AND HEALTH UPDATE TODAY. OUR UV INDEX. OUT, IS GOING TO BE HIGH. I SEE A BURN TIME OF 25 MINUTES. AIR QUALITY IS MODERATE TODAY, AND OUR TREE AND GRASS POLLEN STILL AT MODERATE LEVELS. NOW OVERNIGHT WE HAD A CLUSTER OF SHOWERS MOVING THROUGH. MOST OF THOSE HAVE DISSIPATED OVER LANCASTER COUNTY. IF YOU DO SEE WET GROUND, THAT\u2019S WHERE IT CAME FROM. WE HAD SOME STORMS IN THE MIDWEST OVERNIGHT THAT ROLLED INTO THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY, BUT NOW IT\u2019S DRY AND I THINK IT\u2019S GOING TO BE DRY FOR SEVERAL HOURS. IF YOU WANT TO DO ANYTHING OUTDOORS, YOU SHOULD HAVE DRY WEATHER THROUGH ABOUT MID AFTERNOON BEFORE THESE STORMS START TO BLOSSOM AGAIN. IT\u2019S GOING TO BE A WET EVENING COMMUTE FOR SOME OF THE AREA. THEN THOSE STORMS MOVE OFF TO OUR EAST TONIGHT. TOMORROW WE START OUT DRY AND IT\u2019S A RINSE AND REPEAT. SAME FORECAST. FIRING UP THOSE STORMS IN THE AFTERNOON AND IN THE EVENING AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT. SO THERE\u2019S THE FRONT THAT WIPES AWAY THE HUMIDITY FOR SATURDAY. COULD BE A NICE DAY. IT\u2019S GOING TO BE WARM. HIGHS WILL BE IN THE UPPER 80S, BUT THE HUMIDITY WILL REMAIN AT BAY. HERE\u2019S A LOOK AT THE TEN DAY FORECAST.
