BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Juneteenth celebrations get underway this week in advance of the actual holiday on the 19th.<\/p>\n
New this year is a celebration called JuneTweenth which celebrates Black art and Black business.<\/p>\n
Marquett Ferrell, who is the host of the event, joined 69 News at Sunrise.<\/p>\n
The event is happening on Friday at Bethlehem’s Rose Garden from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Ferrell said the event will feature vendors and live music.<\/p>\n
It’ll be “a fun, engaging community experience,” he said.<\/p>\n
Performers include a local poet, groups from Philly, and\u00a0Ferrell himself.<\/p>\n
He said he performs hip hop and R&B.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ferrell said he likes to use his art and his platform to benefit the community and marginalized groups.<\/p>\n
He said he hopes to make the festival an annual event.<\/p>\n
