{"id":216554,"date":"2026-06-11T16:13:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T16:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/216554\/"},"modified":"2026-06-11T16:13:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T16:13:08","slug":"get-moving-with-free-dance-classes-from-pittsburgh-ballet-theatre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/216554\/","title":{"rendered":"Get Moving With Free Dance Classes from Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/pbt2.jpeg\" data-lb-width=\"1000\" data-lb-height=\"667\" class=\" photoswipe gtxlightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-374153\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/pbt2.jpeg\" alt=\"Pbt2\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">PHOTO BY OLLIE GRATZINGER<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever wanted to try your hand at dance, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will soon make it even easier to get moving.<\/p>\n<p>The longstanding dance company, perhaps best known for its annual production of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittsburghmagazine.com\/immersive-awe-inspiring-proud-of-pittsburgh-pittsburgh-ballet-theater-announces-a-new-iteration-of-the-nutcracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Nutcracker<\/a>, will host free dance and wellness classes for folks 14 and older at Arts Landing throughout the summer, as well as a \u201cDance the Story\u201d program for children during Family Fest in September.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The dance and fitness classes will include a variety of exercise styles, from ballet, Pilates and barre to hip-hop and contemporary dance. The classes will take place weekly at 10 a.m. on Saturdays at the Dollar Bank Stage in Arts Landing, located at 803 Penn Ave. Classes start on June 20 and run through late September. PBT welcomes all people with all levels of experience.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule is as follows:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>June 20: Pilates\u00a0<br \/>\nJune 27: Beginner ballet 1\u00a0<br \/>\nJuly 11: Barre<br \/>\nJuly 18: TBD<br \/>\nJuly 25: Pilates<br \/>\nAug. 1: TBD<br \/>\nAug. 8: Beginner ballet 1\u00a0<br \/>\nAug. 15: Barre\u00a0<br \/>\nAug. 22: TBD<br \/>\nAug. 29: Pilates\u00a0<br \/>\nSept. 5: Contemporary\u00a0<br \/>\nSept. 12: Hip hop\u00a0<br \/>\nSept. 19: Hip hop\u00a0<br \/>\nSept. 26: Pilates\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Folks can register for classes <a href=\"https:\/\/clients.mindbodyonline.com\/classic\/mainclass?studioid=908442&amp;tg=65&amp;vt=&amp;lvl=&amp;stype=-7&amp;view=week&amp;trn=0&amp;page=&amp;catid=&amp;prodid=&amp;date=06%2f20%2f26&amp;classid=0&amp;prodGroupId=&amp;sSU=&amp;optForwardingLink=&amp;qParam=&amp;justloggedin=&amp;nLgIn=&amp;pMode=0&amp;loc=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">here<\/a>. You should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers for the classes, and for Pilates and barre classes, be sure to bring an exercise mat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPittsburghers will love having the opportunity to try our classes for free in the new, beautiful outdoor space that Arts Landing is providing,\u201d says Nicholas Dragga, executive director of PBT.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At 10 a.m. on Sept. 19, PBT\u2019s Education and Community Engagement division will participate in Family Fest at Arts Landing. At this event, PBT will present an interactive \u201cDance the Story \u201d program based on Alice in Wonderland, which PBT will perform in February 2027. The event features a ballet story and an introduction to ballet technique and costumes from the ballet, helping bring the story to life for children.
