Philadelphia\u2019s comedy community will come together this Saturday to celebrate the official designation of the 2000 block of Sansom Street as \u201cPhilly\u2019s Funniest Block.\u201d<\/p>\n
The free community celebration will feature comedy, family-friendly activities, prizes, special promotions from local businesses, and opportunities to connect with the four comedy organizations that call the area home: ComedySportz, Helium Comedy Club<\/a>, MacGuffin Theatre & Film Company, and SideQuest Theater.<\/p>\n The festivities are set to begin Saturday, June 13, at 5:30 p.m. with a Ribbon Cutting and City Citation Ceremony featuring remarks from City Councilmember At-Large Rue Landau. Keeping the neighborhood\u2019s comedic spirit in mind, participants will don Groucho glasses as a giant ribbon stretched across the block will be ceremonially cut with a classic rubber chicken.<\/p>\n Throughout the evening, visitors can check out information tables hosted by each comedy venue, where representatives will share details about upcoming classes, workshops, and performances.
