(WOLF) \u2014 With thousands of rail fans expected to visit Scranton for the arrival of Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014, local transit officials are expanding bus service to help move visitors to and from Steamtown National Historic Site.<\/p>\n<p>The historic steam locomotive is scheduled to be on display Monday and Tuesday, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>County of Lackawanna Transit System officials say several free shuttle routes will be operating in addition to regular bus service.<\/p>\n<p>According to COLTS, four fixed-route buses will serve the PNC Field and Montage Mountain parking areas beginning at 7 a.m. The Luzerne County Transportation Authority will provide two additional buses to assist with transportation from those locations.<\/p>\n<p>For visitors parking at designated downtown locations, two COLTS buses will operate a continuous loop serving Scranton High School and West Scranton High School.<\/p>\n<p>KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: <a href=\"https:\/\/fox56.com\/news\/local\/know-before-you-go-parking-traffic-details-for-big-boy-locomotive-reunion-in-scranton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PARKING, BUS AND SHUTTLE INFO FOR THE BIG BOY REUNION<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Transit officials say they will closely monitor crowd sizes throughout the event and adjust operations if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>All shuttle services associated with the Big Boy visit will be offered free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>Officials noted that if shuttle buses reach capacity, visitors can still use COLTS&#8217; regular fixed-route system, which provides connections throughout Lackawanna County and links to the Lackawanna Transit Center in downtown Scranton.<\/p>\n<p>The transit center serves as the hub of the COLTS network, allowing riders to transfer between routes and access destinations throughout the county.<\/p>\n<p>The current fare for fixed-route service is $1.75 one way. A day pass is available for $4 and allows unlimited rides.<\/p>\n<p>COLTS is encouraging visitors to download the myStop mobile app, which provides real-time bus tracking, arrival information, route details and trip-planning tools.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say real-time service information is also available through the COLTS website.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Knowing the number of attendees, COLTS remains committed to providing safe, reliable, and affordable public transportation throughout Lackawanna County,&#8221; the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Big Boy No. 4014, the world&#8217;s largest operating steam locomotive, is expected to be one of the largest attractions to visit Scranton in recent years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO.
