Storms, heat, then relief: Central Pennsylvania\u2019s weekend forecast<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNOW, THE WGAL NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST, WITH METEOROLOGIST MIKE SUSKO. AND GOOD AFTERNOON, EVERYONE. HERE\u2019S A LOOK FROM HYNER VIEW EIGHT THIS MORNING. BEAUTIFUL SHOT THERE OF THE SUNRISE, BUT A LOT OF CLOUD COVER OVER PARTS OF LANCASTER COUNTY THIS MORNING. WE ARE STARTING TO SEE THE CLOUDS CLEAR OUT. AND THAT MEANS THE SUN HAS RETURNED TO THE SKY. BUT IT ALSO MEANS THAT\u2019S GOING TO HELP CHANGE THE ATMOSPHERE AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON HERE FOR SOME SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. AND THAT\u2019S WHY TODAY IS AN IMPACT DAY. IN ADDITION TO THE FACT IT\u2019S HOT AND HUMID, YOU STEP OUTSIDE. IN SOME CASES, IT FEELS LIKE THE UPPER 90S, EVEN 100 DEGREES. SAME THING ON FRIDAY. BASICALLY, RINSE AND REPEAT. A LITTLE WARMER ON FRIDAY AS THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE WEEK. AND THEN SATURDAY WE GET A BREAK. IT\u2019S EVEN LESS HUMID SATURDAY, BUT THEN WE GET MORE STORMS ON SUNDAY WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR MORE DAMAGING WINDS. THAT\u2019S WHY YOU SEE THE IMPACT DAY THERE FOR SUNDAY. A LITTLE QUIETER NEXT WEEK. IT\u2019S BEEN A VERY ACTIVE END OF THE WEEK HERE ACROSS THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY. A LITTLE BIT QUIETER AS WE GO INTO NEXT WEEK AND COOLER AS WELL. BUT LET\u2019S START THINGS OFF WITH TODAY. A HEAT ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR PARTS OF THE AREA. AND THAT\u2019S BECAUSE WE COULD GET THOSE FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURE OR HEAT INDEX VALUES OVER 100 DEGREES, ESPECIALLY FOR PLACES LIKE DAUPHIN COUNTY, ADAMS, YORK, LEBANON AND LANCASTER COUNTY. THAT\u2019S WHERE THAT ADVISORY IS. SCATTERED STORMS TODAY, ANYWHERE FROM 2 TO 3:00 TILL ABOUT NINE. THEY WILL BE FROM WEST TO EAST. SO LEBANON, LANCASTER COUNTY GETS A LITTLE BIT LATER IN THE DAY. BUT SOME OF THESE COULD PRODUCE SOME GUSTY WINDS AND BE ON THE STRONG TO EVEN SEVERE SIDE. SO HERE\u2019S A LOOK AT THAT HEAT ADVISORY AGAIN. DAUPHIN, LEBANON, LANCASTER AS WELL AS YORK, ADAMS AND CUMBERLAND COUNTIES. THAT WILL GO NOT ONLY FOR TODAY BUT UNTIL 8 P.M. TOMORROW. SO AGAIN, TOMORROW, REALLY JUST A RINSE AND REPEAT KIND OF FORECAST HERE WITH THOSE TEMPERATURES AND HEAT INDEX VALUES. HERE\u2019S A LOOK AT IT FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. TODAY WE DO SEE THOSE VALUES PEAK IN THE AFTERNOON AS YOU WOULD EXPECT. BUT EVEN AT NIGHT YOU CAN SEE STILL FEELING LIKE 80 DEGREES, EVEN AT 1:00 IN THE MORNING. AND OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES DON\u2019T DROP VERY MUCH AT ALL ACROSS THE AREA. STORM TEAM LIVE RADAR NETWORK. RIGHT NOW, THOUGH, IT IS QUIET. WE ARE WATCHING THAT LINE, TRYING TO FORM THERE OFF TO THE WEST IN OHIO. AND AS IT ADVANCES INTO PENNSYLVANIA, I DO EXPECT THE STORMS TO BECOME MORE NUMEROUS. THAT\u2019S THE ROUND THAT WE\u2019LL NEED TO WATCH FOR THE STRONG WIND, STRONG DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AS IT COMES ON THROUGH. SO RIGHT AROUND TWO 3:00, WE START TO SEE A COUPLE STORMS TRY TO BLOSSOM HERE ACROSS THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY. AND THEN WE\u2019LL HAVE ANOTHER BATCH OF RAIN COME IN AROUND SIX, SEVEN AND 8:00 HERE. ONCE WE GET THROUGH THAT EIGHT, 9:00 HOUR, IT LOOKS LIKE THINGS CLEAR OUT FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT. THEN AS WE GO INTO FRIDAY, A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH FROM THE NORTH AND WEST AND WILL FIRE OFF SOME SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AS WE GO INTO THE AFTERNOON ON FRIDAY BEFORE WE END UP GOING INTO SATURDAY, WHICH IS GOING TO BE A COOLER DAY. IT\u2019S ALSO GOING TO BE LESS HUMID AS WELL, BUT HERE\u2019S A LOOK AT THE SEVERE WEATHER RISK FOR TODAY. A LEVEL TWO OUT OF FIVE AGAIN FROM 2 TO 9. YOU WANT TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THOSE STRONG THUNDERSTORMS. AND THE DAMAGING WIND THREAT IS A LITTLE BIT HIGHER IN PARTS OF EASTERN YORK, LANCASTER AND ALSO THERE IN BERKS COUNTY. HERE. THIS IS THE DAMAGING WIND RISK. EVERYONE TO THE WEST THERE IS UNDER THAT 15% CHANCE, 30% CHANCE THOUGH IN RED AGAIN, INCLUDING PARTS OF LANCASTER AND YORK COUNTY. AND THEN TOMORROW FROM 1:00 TO 9:00, WE\u2019LL NEED TO WATCH FOR THOSE SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. SAME EXACT DEAL WITH THE DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL BEING THE MAIN CONCERN FOR THE WEEKEND. 88 THERE ON YOUR SATURDAY. SUNDAY, PARTLY SUNNY AND THEN STORMS COME IN ONCE AGAIN LATE. IN FACT, THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER ALREADY HIGHLIGHTING ACROSS THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY AND REALLY THE MID-ATLANTIC FOR STRONG STORMS ON SUNDAY. HERE IT LOOKS LIKE A LINE WILL TRY TO FORM RIGHT OVER THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY AND MOVE TO THE EAST AS THAT HAPPENS, COULD PRODUCE SOME GUSTY WINDS. SO WE\u2019RE GOING TO CONTINUE WITH THE ACTIVE WEATHER HERE TO END THE WEEKEND. BUT LIKE I MENTIONED EARLIER, SUSAN, ONCE WE GET THROUGH TODAY AND TOMORROW, WE GET RID OF AT LEAST THE INTENSE HEAT AND HUMIDITY. AND THEN SUNDAY WILL BE THE LAST DA\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
