The Carnegie Museums, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh, and Children\u2019s Museum of Pittsburgh are seeking artists for the 2026-27 \u201cEnvisioning a Just Pittsburgh\u201d regional arts competition, which will conclude with an art showcase at Carnegie Museum of Art in early 2027.<\/p>\n
Launched in 2022, this year\u2019s \u201cEnvisioning a Just Pittsburgh\u201d program invites artists to explore the meaning of \u201chome\u201d through visual art, writing, performance, and interdisciplinary works. To support artists in this exploration, program partners will offer a series of community workshops from June through October, the first scheduled for June 19.<\/p>\n
Art submissions will be due Nov. 1, and monetary awards will total $20,000.<\/p>\n
The awards categories are:<\/p>\n
-Writing for the page: Short story, poetry, personal essay and flash fiction<\/p>\n
-Visual Art: 2D, 3D, painting, photography, sculpture, fiber art, graphic design <\/p>\n
-Performance: Music, dance, slam poetry, spoken word<\/p>\n
-Video and interdisciplinary: Works that cross categories, mixed media, digital art<\/p>\n
-Youth Arts (Grade 6th-8th and Grade 9th-12th): All categories.<\/p>\n
