CLINTON TWP., Pa. – Three homes in Pennsylvania burned to the ground after an explosion in Wayne County, Pennsylvania Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania State Police say three people were inside a home on Sensetine Road and Elk Lake in Clinton Township around 10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
An 84-year-old woman told authorities she was in her kitchen when the explosion happened and the home partially collapsed, state police said in a news release.<\/p>\n
The woman said her 63-year-old son was upstairs and that she tried to get to him, but debris was at the stairwell, according to state police.<\/p>\n
She said she yelled for her son to escape through the window, so he climbed out the window onto the roof and jumped to the ground, state police said.<\/p>\n
State police said the woman\u2019s husband was on the porch at the time and got to safety.<\/p>\n
The people who had been in the house told authorities that once outside, they saw the propane tanks that were along the house were ablaze and the house had caught fire, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
The three people in the home were taken to a hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
According to state police, the fire eventually burned the home and two others to the ground.<\/p>\n
State police said surrounding homes along the lake were also damaged.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
According to state police, preliminary findings indicate that one of several 100-pound propane cylinders outside the home may have experienced a failure, resulting in a propane leak that then ignited.<\/p>\n
