Sally Evans got up early on Saturday to watch the Big Boy No. 4014 roll through Dupont.<\/p>\n
Evans and others gathered at Choo Choo\u2019s Ice Cream Shoppe in anticipation of the train\u2019s crossing, which she described as a \u201conce-in-a =-lifetime experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
So at about 11:30 a.m., when onlookers heard the train coming, they held their breath with anticipation.<\/p>\n
But, that experience was put on hold, when another train approached from the opposite direction and blocked their view.<\/p>\n
Luckily, the train then backed up and came into view.\u00a0 But not only did Evans and her sister, Sheryl Willauer, get to see the train Saturday morning, it also rolled through Dupont\u00a0 again at about 2:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Evans estimated there to be about 1,000 people when the train came through at about 11:30 a.m. When it made its way through town for a second time, she estimated that about 400 people were on hand to see the historic locomotive at the same spot.<\/p>\n
The sisters aren\u2019t especially into trains, but when they heard it was coming into town, they wanted to be included in the day\u2019s excitement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a blast,\u201d Willauer said.<\/p>\n
The sisters said they certainly have had their fill of trains for the year, but are glad they got to spend the day together.<\/p>\n
