This time last year, the\u00a0La Salle College<\/a> Explorers saw their 2024 season end at the hands of eventual Class 6A state champion St. Joseph\u2019s Prep School<\/a>. In waiting nearly a year to pay back the favor, they did so in a tightly contested district semifinal.<\/p>\n

The Explorers received a strong day through the air from Missouri commit\u00a0Gavin Sidwar<\/a> as La Salle College defeated St. Joseph\u2019s Prep School, 24-14, at Villanova Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a PIAA<\/a>\u00a0Class 6A, District 12 semifinal.<\/p>\n

With the loss, St. Joseph\u2019s Prep School\u2019s quest to win a fourth straight state championship ends in Villanova as they began the season with such high expectations beginning as the No. 15 ranked team in the country. The Hawks finish with a 5-5 record, but would be slated to return a couple key starters in junior quarterback Charlie Foulke<\/a> and sophomore wide receiver Jett Harrison<\/a>, who is the son of former NFL All-Pro Marvin Harrison.<\/p>\n

The Explorers (9-1) opened up the game with a touchdown toss from Sidwar to sophomore Owen Johnson for the early 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The Hawks would respond later when Foulke connected on a scoring pass to wide receiver Alston Frisbey to tie things up.<\/p>\n

Sidwar and Johnson paired up for another touchdown just 11 seconds before intermission to go ahead 14-7 by the half. After adding a 30-yard Chris Heck field goal midway through the third period, St. Joseph\u2019s Prep answered back with a Foulke-to-Harrison 20-yard scoring strike to come within 17-14.<\/p>\n

That would be the closest the Hawks would come the rest of the way as the Explorers would add a touchdown in the fourth period to extend their advantage to two scores, putting the contest out of reach and securing a trip to the 6A-District 12 title game.<\/p>\n
