{"id":219300,"date":"2026-06-15T01:43:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T01:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/219300\/"},"modified":"2026-06-15T01:43:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T01:43:14","slug":"edward-eddie-gable-jr-scranton-times-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/219300\/","title":{"rendered":"Edward \u2018Eddie\u2019 Gable, Jr. \u2013 Scranton Times-Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\t\t\tEdward \u2018Eddie\u2019 Gable, Jr. \t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Edward Eddie Gable Jr., 53, of Dickson City, went to be with God on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore, with his family by his side.<\/p>\n<p>\nBorn in Scranton, he was the son of Edward Sr. and Janet Srebro Gable, Dickson City. He was a graduate of St. Mary\u2019s Parochial School, Dickson City, where he was awarded the American Legion Scholastic Award for high honors. He went on to graduate from Scranton Prep and the University of Scranton with a BS degree in Biology, and he furthered his studies at the Fortis Institute. Prior to his illness, he was a phlebotomist with Bio Tech, Dickson City.<\/p>\n<p>\nEddie loved God, his family\/friends, and his country. He was a die-hard Yankees and Steelers fan. He loved attending his nephews baseball and soccer games, collecting Star Wars memorabilia, comic books, playing cards, action figures, working with modern technology devices, and riding roller coasters. He loved to sing karaoke, especially Tobey Keith songs. He loved watching wrestling, going fishing, bowling, acting in plays, and playing baseball and basketball. His favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas. He loved spending time with his many godchildren and all his family and friends at parties and family gatherings. Eddie was a person who was always smiling, and he had a positive impact on so many people, even until his last day.<\/p>\n<p>\nHis family would like to thank the staff and doctors at UPENN, hospital, and the staff at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.<\/p>\n<p>\nSurviving is a brother, Brian Gable, and wife Stephanie, Middletown, DE; his cherished nephews, Jackson and Maddox; aunts and uncles, his second mother, Joyce Danielewicz, Joseph Srebro, Florence and Delmo Tini, Jane and Robert Clarke, Clark Gable, Betty Nestor, Lisi Srebro; numerous cousins, Joy, Todd and Aiden Britton, Darlene Wolfington and partner, Richard, Christopher, Andrew and James Wolfington, Mark Srebro, Debbie and David Morgan and family, John and Bobby Chewey, Karen and Bob Gable, Lee and Lori Gable, Susan Barancewicz and Adam Gable, Peter and Lisa Nestor; the Prynkiewicz and Labinski families; godson Aaron Srebro, god daughter, Amanda Carloni.<\/p>\n<p>\nHe was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Helen Srebro; his paternal grandparents, Louis and Mary Gable; uncle, and aunt, Louis and Marian Gable; aunt Linda, cousin Louis Beaver Gable.<\/p>\n<p>\nA memorial Mass will be offered on Tuesday, June 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. At St. Mary\u2019s Visitation Church, Dickson City. Anyone attending is asked to go directly to the church. There will be no public calling hours.<\/p>\n<p>\nArrangements are with Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., Dickson City. In lieu of flowers, donations of children\u2019s toys can be made in Eddie\u2019s memory to the Nemour\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital of Delaware.
