{"id":219456,"date":"2026-06-15T10:24:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T10:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/219456\/"},"modified":"2026-06-15T10:24:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T10:24:09","slug":"lehigh-county-executive-to-unveil-ice-non-cooperation-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/219456\/","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh County executive to unveil ICE non-cooperation policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lehigh County Executive Josh Siegel will join with civil rights activists and immigrant rights groups Tuesday to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcall.com\/2026\/05\/14\/lehigh-county-to-consider-rule-banning-employees-from-helping-ice\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">present a policy he\u2019s proposed that would bar county employees from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents while on the job.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Under the proposed rule, county employees will not be permitted to give out nonpublic or personally identifiable information about any person to federal immigration agencies or officers unless they\u2019re under a subpoena, court order or warrant, or the disclosure was reviewed and approved by the county solicitor.<\/p>\n<p>Employees will be subject to mandatory training on the new rule, and could face serious consequences if they don\u2019t comply, including termination, according to the resolution.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0policy also prohibits the agency from using any county facility as a staging area for operations.
