The Eagles on Tuesday made a flurry of roster moves, including placing edge rush Joe Tryon-Shoyinka on the reserve retired list.<\/p>\n
Tryon-Shoyinka walks away from the NFL at age 27.<\/p>\n
The Eagles signed him in late March but Tryon-Shoyinka was not at OTAs or the Eagles\u2019 mandatory minicamp. The Eagles have since signed DE A.J. Epenesa.<\/p>\n
The former first-round pick out of Washington in 2021 began his career with the Buccaneers but also played with the Browns and Bears. Last season, Tryon-Shoyinka suffered a concussion with the Bears in Week 17 against the 49ers. He missed Week 18 and both of the Bears\u2019 playoff games. In his career, Tryon-Shoyinka played in 82 games with 45 starts and had 15 sacks.<\/p>\n
In addition to placing Tryon-Shoyinka on the reserve\/retired list, the Eagles also signed two players from the UFL after their season just ended: WR Erik Ezukanma and DB Shaun Wade.<\/p>\n
Ezukanma, 26, was a fourth-round pick of the Dolphins out of Texas Tech back in 2022. He most recently played for the DC Defenders of the UFL but played in five games with the Dolphins from 2022-24. Eagles passing game coordinator Josh Grizzard was a quality control coach in Miami those first two years.<\/p>\n
Wade, 27, was a fifth-round pick of the Ravens in 2021 out of Ohio State. He played in 20 games (6 starts) with the Patriots from 2021-23 but was most recently in the UFL.<\/p>\n
In addition to Tryon-Shoyinka\u2019s retirement, the Eagles needed to create another roster spot.
