{"id":221006,"date":"2026-06-17T02:59:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T02:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/221006\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T02:59:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T02:59:09","slug":"lehigh-to-sell-radio-license-to-lehigh-valley-public-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/221006\/","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh to sell radio license to Lehigh Valley Public Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On June 11, Lehigh University Communications <a href=\"https:\/\/news.lehigh.edu\/lehigh-university-announces-sale-of-913-wlvr-fm-license-to-lehigh-valley-public-media\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">released a statement<\/a> announcing the university has agreed to sell its radio license for the 91.3 WLVR-FM station to Lehigh Valley Public Media.<\/p>\n<p>The ownership is pending regulatory approval from the Federal Communications Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Lehigh began its partnership with Lehigh Valley Public Media <a href=\"https:\/\/thebrownandwhite.com\/2019\/10\/27\/wlvr-fm-partners-with-lehigh-valley-public-media\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in 2019<\/a>. According to the statement, the aim of the purchase was to supervise operations of the broadcast station and transform 91.3 FM into a multi-channel HD broadcast station. The HD-2 station was intended to be student-run.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Urban, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, said in the statement the university is looking to support \u201cAI-readiness and evolving multimedia skills\u201d rather than the traditional broadcast learning opportunities with WLVR.<\/p>\n<p>This is a developing story.
