{"id":221079,"date":"2026-06-17T04:39:23","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T04:39:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/221079\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T04:39:23","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T04:39:23","slug":"allegheny-county-extends-public-comment-period-for-paid-parental-leave-proposal-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/221079\/","title":{"rendered":"Allegheny County extends public comment period for paid parental leave proposal \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 Allegheny County residents have more time to make their voice heard on a proposal regarding paid parental leave. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">After receiving public requests for more time to review and respond to the proposal for Paid Parental Leave and Expanded Paid Sick Days, county officials extended the comment period from 30 to 60 days. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The proposal, if passed, would require all Allegheny County businesses to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/people-sound-off-against-policy-that-would-require-18-weeks-paid-parental-leave\/XSYMOKMKOJCXNAQQLB7ZYMH464\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/people-sound-off-against-policy-that-would-require-18-weeks-paid-parental-leave\/XSYMOKMKOJCXNAQQLB7ZYMH464\/\">provide 18-weeks of paid parental leave.<\/a> Supporters say it\u2019s something that\u2019s desperately needed;
