{"id":221411,"date":"2026-06-17T15:08:06","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T15:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/221411\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T15:08:06","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T15:08:06","slug":"inmate-dies-at-federal-penitentiary-in-waymart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/221411\/","title":{"rendered":"Inmate dies at federal penitentiary in Waymart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An inmate at the U.S. Penitentiary Canaan in Waymart in Wayne County was found dead on Tuesday, authorities say.<\/p>\n<p>At about 9:15 a.m., James Ray Ball, 47, was found unresponsive at the penitentiary and employees initiated life-saving measures.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency medical services were summoned, but could not save Ball\u2019s life. He was pronounced dead by the clinical director on scene.<\/p>\n<p>No employees or other incarcerated individuals were injured and at no time was the public in danger, authorities said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>Ball was sentenced in the Eastern District of Tennessee to a 51-month sentence for Conspiracy to Distribute a Quantity of Actual Methamphetamine.
