(WOLF) \u2014 An emergency roadway improvement project is set to begin this week on Rear Webster Street in Pittston.<\/p>\n<p>City officials announced that Pittston City Council has approved emergency paving work along the entire alley between Hunter Street and Searle Street due to the roadway&#8217;s deteriorating condition.<\/p>\n<p>Construction is scheduled to begin Thursday, June 18, and is expected to be completed by late Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>During the project, access to Rear Webster Street may be limited as heavy equipment and construction vehicles operate within the alley and on nearby streets. Officials are urging motorists and pedestrians to use caution while traveling through the area.<\/p>\n<p>Residents who require special accommodations during the paving project are encouraged to notify the contractor on site. Representatives from the Pittston City Street Department will also be available throughout construction to assist residents and address concerns.<\/p>\n<p>City officials acknowledged the short notice but said the roadway&#8217;s condition and the contractor&#8217;s immediate availability made it necessary to move forward with the repairs as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these much-needed improvements,&#8221; the city said in a notice to residents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PITTSTON, LUZERNE CO.
