The zoo\u2019s newest tenant needs a name, and you can help choose one.<\/p>\n

Born in April, the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium\u2019s two-month-old female lion cub continues to grow and thrive behind the scenes; while she won\u2019t be visible to the public until later this summer when she\u2019s a bit older according to officials, folks are invited to make an early connection through an online naming contest<\/a> called Dub the Cub.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For a $5 donation to the zoo, guests can suggest a name for the cub now through July 17. If your creative juices are really flowing, you can submit multiple names, each for a separate $5 donation, which will support the zoo\u2019s ongoing animal care, conservation and education initiatives.<\/p>\n

Once the contest closes, zoo staff will review and vet the entries before selecting the winning name, which will be announced on the organization\u2019s social media channels.<\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re inspired by the Lion King or want to name the little lion after yourself, this is your chance to be part of Pittsburgh\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe perfect name is just one bright idea away,\u201d officials say in a press release. \u201cEvery future Queen of the Jungle deserves a name she can roar about.\u201d<\/p>\n

The cub was born to first-time parents Scarlett and Hondo, and her birth marks a major win<\/a> for the zoo\u2019s conservation efforts.
