Golfers will hit the green Thursday as the Barber National Institute hosts its annual Shillelagh Golf Tournament at Whispering Woods Golf Course in Erie.<\/p>\n
The event will take place June 18 at Whispering Woods Golf Course, located at 7214 Grubb Road. Participants will tee off during two sessions scheduled for 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
The Shillelagh Golf Tournament has become a longstanding Erie tradition, bringing together community members and supporters to raise funds for the mission of Barber National Institute and the services it provides throughout the region.<\/p>\n
New to this year’s tournament is an “air-cannon” attraction that will give golfers the opportunity to launch their ball more than 400 yards down the fairway, adding a unique twist to the competition.<\/p>\n
The day will conclude with a dinner at 6 p.m., during which the organization will recognize its Person of the Year.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the event will provide opportunities for photographs, video, and interviews. A complete press release with additional details will be available during the tournament.<\/p>\n
