Tomorrow is Independence Day and there are plenty of events<\/a> in and around Lower Merion to celebrate. Also this week, Johnny\u2019s Pizza in Bryn Mawr<\/a> is expanding, Manatawny Still Works abruptly closed all of its locations<\/a>, including a tasting room in Ardmore, and a former Main Line Rite Aid is being transformed into a luxury pet hotel<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Friday marks the country\u2019s 249th birthday. Here\u2019s how to celebrate in Lower Merion:<\/p>\n

Bala Cynwyd<\/a>: The Neighborhood Club of Bala Cynwyd will host its annual celebration, complete with a parade starting at the Union Fire Association at 9:30 a.m. It ends at Bala Cynwyd Park, where there will be carnival rides, a carousel, petting zoo, games, music, and more. \u23f0 Friday, July 4, 9:30 a.m. \ud83d\udcb5 Free \ud83d\udccd Union Fire Association and Bala Cynwyd Park <\/p>\n

Bryn Mawr<\/a>: A festive parade kicks off at the Rosemont Business Campus, with registration opening at 9:30 a.m., judging at 10 a.m., and the parade kicking off at 10:45 a.m. Festivities end at Clem Macrone Park. Join in by decorating your bike or a float. After, there will be games and entertainment at the park. \u23f0 Friday, July 4, 10:45 a.m. \ud83d\udcb5 Free \ud83d\udccd Rosemont Business Campus and Clem Macrone Park<\/p>\n

Narberth<\/a>: The day kicks off with a baby parade, carnival, games, and a pie-eating contest from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Later in the evening, expect music, food trucks, and fireworks. All festivities take place at Narberth Park. \u23f0 Friday, July 4, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 7-10:30 p.m. \ud83d\udcb5 Free \ud83d\udccd Narberth Park<\/p>\n

Penn Wynne<\/a>: The 82nd annual parade kicks off at 10 a.m. at Penn Wynne-Overbrook Hills Fire Company. The route ends at Penn Wynne Park, where there will be a carnival from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. complete with bounce houses, games, music, and food. \u23f0 Friday, July 4, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. \ud83d\udcb5 $10 for wristbands to the carnival \ud83d\udccd Penn Wynne-Overbrook Hills Fire Company and Penn Wynne Park<\/p>\n

A former Rite Aid in Wayne is being converted into a luxury pet hotel chain known as K9 Resorts<\/a>. It\u2019s expected to open later this summer. <\/p>\n

Narberth native and former White House stenographer Beck Dorey-Stein\u2019s new book, Spectacular Things, is the July pick for Reese\u2019s Book Club<\/a>. Released on Tuesday, it follows two sisters navigating difficult decisions. Dorey-Stein\u2019s debut book, From the Corner of the Oval: A Memoir,<\/a> came out in 2018. <\/p>\n

Philadelphia magazine recently spoke with Gladwyne resident and owner of Neem Crafts, Ashwini Reddi<\/a>, about the brand\u2019s handmade goods from India, including placemats, napkins, and cushions.<\/p>\n
