Residents at Glenmaura Senior Living got a chance to relive an old memory and create new ones. With a second prom, new and old couples got another chance at a dance.<\/p>\n
MOOSIC, Pa. \u2014 A slow dance at prom is a memory that’s hard to forget and even harder to recreate.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But at Glenmaura Senior Living in Moosic, some couples got to relive that picture-perfect moment, more than half a century later.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“It was in high school, it was at a dance,\u201d said Larry Shumbres, a resident. \u201cShe said to a friend of hers, ‘I want to dance with that guy, I like him,’ and when that happened, I was shocked. I was like ‘Really? Somebody that beautiful wants to dance with me?'”<\/p>\n
Now, 61 years later, at the couple’s second senior prom, some things haven’t changed.<\/p>\n
“Just like this, you got all excited about getting a gown, and getting your makeup and your hair done, just everything like this,\u201d said Frances Marino, a resident.<\/p>\n
Residents Fred and Catherine Bunt didn’t meet until after high school. And after more than 70 years of marriage, the newly crowned prom king and queen created a new memory of a dance at prom.<\/p>\n
“This is the most surprising thing that’s happened to me in a long, long time. Last time I had a surprise like that was when she said yes,\u201d said Fred Bunt, a resident.<\/p>\n
“It’s a little difficult now, we both have knee problems, but we get there,\u201d said Catherine Bunt, a resident.<\/p>\n
There’s also new love in the air. Another couple met just two years ago right here at Glenmaura.<\/p>\n
“It’s different knowing that it can end for each one of us at any time.
