FREEMANSBURG, Pa. \u2013 A new destination for hummus, kabobs, falafel and other Mediterranean specialties is almost ready to welcome hungry foodies in Northampton County.<\/p>\n
Olive It Mediterranean Grill, a family-run restaurant offering authentic Mediterranean cuisine, is expected to open in mid- to late July at 954 Pembroke Road in Freemansburg, co-owner Dani Awad told 69 News.<\/p>\n

The site was previously home to other dining establishments, including Portuguese eatery Europa Restaurant and Barbecue and, most recently, Peruvian restaurant La Casera.<\/p>\n
Awad will operate the restaurant with his wife, Ghadir Awad.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re very excited to serve the Lehigh Valley,\u201d Dani said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re going to be serving really tasty, authentic Mediterranean dishes, and all of our food from will be fresh and homemade.\u201d<\/p>\n
Olive It will offer a variety of platters, including lamb, steak, chicken or fish over basmati rice, along with other Mediterranean favorites such as kabobs, gyros, grape leaves, kibbi, fattoush salad, hummus and baba ghanoush.<\/p>\n

Dani has many years of experience in the food service industry and previously operated another Mediterranean food business in Bucks County before selling it a few years ago.<\/p>\n
He also operates the Fruitella Crepes stand at the Trolley Barn Public Market in Quakertown.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt our new restaurant, we’ll also offer made-to-order crepes, acai bowls and strawberry Dubai cups,\u201d Dani said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m also well-known for my fried cauliflower, which we also will be offering at the restaurant. We\u2019ll have many vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Awads purchased the Pembroke Road property in December and have been implementing updates, including new fa\u00e7ade paint, over the past several months.<\/p>\n
The restaurant will feature seating for around 60 guests, and takeout also will be offered, Dani said.<\/p>\n
