Crestwood freshman Isla Centak won a high school title, and Mid Valley\u2019s Olivia Thomas had two more top finishes to highlight Day 3 at the New Balance National Championship track and field meet.<\/p>\n
On Saturday morning, Centak, the District 2 Class 3A champion, launched the javelin 119 feet, 8 inches to win the freshman division and claim a gold medal at the University of Pennsylvania\u2019s Franklin Field.<\/p>\n
Thomas won a bronze medal in the freshman division triple jump and finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles.<\/p>\n
In the triple jump, the PIAA Class 2A champion, Thomas, had a distance of 39-8.5 on her sixth and final attempt. Jaliah Porter from Lynchburg, Virginia, won the gold with a distance of 41-5. Miami Elite\u2019s Ana Echevarria was second at 40-1.5.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, Thomas ran a time of 14.89 seconds to finish ninth, one spot short of the final. Mylan Shay of Charlotte, North Carolina, had the fastest qualifying time of 13.95.<\/p>\n
Those performances added to the bronze medal she captured in the freshman division long jump on Friday night. She leaped 19-6.5 on the fifth of her six jumps to finish third. Kaitlyn Boakye-Yiadom of Westford Track Club in Massachusetts won the national title in the freshman division with a mark of 20-2.5.<\/p>\n
Centak took the lead on her first throw of the competition with a distance of 115-0. She increased to 116-7 on her second and 118-0 on her third. Her best throw came on the fifth of six throws in the series.<\/p>\n
Lakeland\u2019s Raine Kearney placed ninth in the event. She had a personal-best mark of 105-4 on the second throw and had a 105-0 on her third.<\/p>\n
Abington Heights\u2019 Justin Lezinski finished 11th in the middle school shot put. He had a personal-best mark of 47-2.5 on his second throw of the competition. Leesport, Pennsylvania\u2019s Lincoln Miller won with a meet record distance of 62-3.<\/p>\n
Wallenpaupack\u2019s Isabella Maslowska finished 70th in the freshman 800 in 2:22.16. Delaware Elite\u2019s Brooklyn Brown won the gold in 2:11.62.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Wallenpaupack\u2019s Aiden Janowicz races in the championship division 800 at 1:47 p.m.<\/p>\n
