A downtown Erie business is drawing attention for its unique combination of handcrafted pastries, specialty coffee, and international inspiration.<\/p>\n
The Bakery on 5th, located in the heart of downtown Erie, has become a destination for customers looking for everything from fresh-baked croissants and danishes to artisan breads, macarons, tiramisu, and specialty sandwiches.<\/p>\n
Behind the bakery’s display case is a rotating selection of handmade creations developed by self-taught baker Iryna, a Ukrainian baker who creates the recipes and concepts that fill the shop’s shelves.<\/p>\n
While customers have their favorites, many menu items are rotated every three months, giving visitors a chance to experience something new throughout the year.<\/p>\n
The bakery’s story began when owner Maftuna Rakhimova saw an opportunity after learning a former Starbucks location was available for lease. With two young children at home \u2014 ages four years and 18 months \u2014 she turned the idea into reality in 2024.<\/p>\n
Originally, the focus was on coffee. Today, the bakery offers a full menu of made-to-order beverages, including lattes, cortados, and teas, alongside its growing selection of pastries and baked goods.<\/p>\n
The concept combines Turkish and French bakery influences, creating a distinctive atmosphere that encourages customers to sit down, relax, and enjoy their food and drinks.<\/p>\n
Among those returning customers is Barbara Smith, who splits her time between North Carolina and Erie. After discovering the bakery last year, she has continued to visit and recently brought a friend to experience the shop for themselves.<\/p>\n
Owners say their goal is simple: continue creating quality products and bringing smiles to customers through fresh food, welcoming service, and a unique downtown experience.<\/p>\n
The Bakery on 5th is open seven days a week and also offers catering services for special events.<\/p>\n
