Gone is our quiet Father’s Day weather. Things have turned active for the rest of our Monday. Scattered severe storms that have the potential to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, hail, and a low-end tornado threat are possible. You will want to stay weather aware until the severe threat has past later this evening. Showers linger into a good chunk of our Tuesday until our cold front passes and dries us up into the later afternoon hours. Wednesday brings our nicest day of the week which doesn’t last long because shower and thunderstorm activity does look to come back for the second half of Thursday.<\/p>\n

TONIGHT<\/p>\n
A Flood Watch is in effect for points south and east of the Lehigh Valley through early Tuesday. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch\u00a0is also in effect until 9pm Monday night. Not everyone will see severe weather, but the potential for heavy rain (1-2″ in an hour or two), gusty winds, hail, and an isolated tornado are present for those who do. The Storm Prediction Center has most of the area in a “slight” risk for severe storms (risk level 2 out of 5), and we’re also in a “slight” risk for excessive rainfall and flooding (risk level 2 out of 4). The thunderstorm threat should diminish after the evening passes, with just some scattered showers lingering the rest of the night. Stay weather aware.<\/p>\n
TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY<\/p>\n
Skies start mostly cloudy Tuesday with some showers lingering into the afternoon hours. Rain and clouds will slowly break into the mid to late afternoon. It will be a breezier day with some gusts around 25mph. Wednesday looks to be a mostly sunny day from start to finish. Nighttime lows will be either side of the 60-degree mark, as the fairly comfortable start to summer continues through the middle of the week.\u00a0<\/p>\n
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY<\/p>\n
Later in the week, we’ll watch a cold front bring some scattered showers and thunderstorm chances later Thursday and Thursday night, and those chances will linger through the day on Friday as the front slowly makes its way through the area. Most of Thursday ends up dry with any storms not until late in the day, and Friday won’t be a washout either, although scattered shower and storm chances are possible anytime with probably more in the way of clouds as well. Highs both days remain seasonably warm and between 80-85\u00b0.<\/p>\n
NEXT WEEKEND<\/p>\n
The first full weekend of summer, and last weekend of June, looks to be a nice one weather-wise, at least from this far out. Expect a pair of partly sunny and mainly dry days, with seasonably warm highs in the mid 80s each afternoon, and still comfy lows in the low 60s. There are some signs that some heat and humidity may try to build into the area to start July the following week.<\/p>\n
