With the results in-hand, township officials hosted a Bethlehem Pike Revitalization Community Kickoff Meeting at Harth Builders to review the data with the community.

After highlighting results of the survey, Lower Gwynedd Township officials led group discussions to focus on the future of the busy roadway and its surrounding business.

“Residents, business owners, and community stakeholders shared valuable ideas, priorities, and feedback that will help guide the revitalization effort moving forward,” said an email released by the township after the event. “We appreciate the thoughtful participation and engagement from everyone who attended. Your input is an important part of shaping a shared vision for Bethlehem Pike and ensuring the corridor continues to serve the needs of the community for years to come.”

In total, 204 responses were received by Lower Gwynedd Township, consisting of 184 residents and 20 nonresidents. When asked what they liked about the corridor now, responders said highlights included:

Restaurants and dining options

Small local businesses

Convenient access to services

Manageable traffic flow

A middle turn lane

Walkability with sidewalks

Small-town characteristics

Spring House Village/Whole Foods

Survey responders noted most frequently that Ambler’s downtown was a community that would serve as a good model for future endeavors on Bethlehem Pike. They also requested more landscaping and greenery along the busy roadway, along with more seating and gathering areas, citing such open spaces would “create a quaint, cohesive look” to the area.

When asked what they’d most like to see more of in the future, survey responders said they’d like more restaurants and cafes, expanded sidewalks, trails, and bike lanes, as well as beautification with trees, flowers, street lighting, cohesive signage and safer crossings.

Responders were in favor of keeping a center turning lane and also requested the filling of vacant buildings. They voted more for small businesses over large chains.

According to the township’s summary, supporters were in favor of mixed use development, with residential over retail establishments, but contradicted such comments noting they did not want apartments, high-density development, or buildings over two to three stories. Most cited a fear of traffic growth as a result of additional residential spaces.

For a full review of the survey responses, visit the township’s presentation documents here.

Residents living in and around Lower Gwynedd’s Bethlehem Pike were recently asked to take part in a survey,…

[14
153,155,154
post-225690","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-bethlehem","tag-bethlehem","tag-bethlehem-headlines","tag-bethlehem-news
["GET
