Plans to construct a new home<\/a> for the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA and Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL took a step forward with the announcement of the Turner, AECOM Hunt joint venture, Dubbed PACT+, the team includes Philadelphia-based firms Perryman Construction, Hunter Roberts Construction Group and Camfred Construction.<\/p>\n

The project, currently named the \u201cNew Arena,\u201d is planned for a 2030 opening in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, a date tied to the debut of the WNBA\u2019s Philadelphia team, which will constitute a third tenant for the building.<\/p>\n

The PACT+ team will work with team owner David Adelman and the design team of Populous and Moody Nolan to move the project forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is more than a construction project, it\u2019s a chance to build something that becomes part of Philadelphia\u2019s fabric for generations,\u201d Dave Kaminksi, Turner vice president and senior general manager, said in a statement. \u201cAs someone who calls this city home, I couldn\u2019t be prouder that Turner is helping shape a landmark that will bring people together and celebrate what makes Philadelphia such a special place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Turner and AECOM Hunt have over 50 years of stadium and arena construction experience and have worked together for over 20 years, including on a variety of Philadelphia projects and the NFL stadium there, Lincoln Financial Field.<\/p>\n

Adelman said in a statement that having Turner and AECOM Hunt on one team will help \u201cbuild the most technologically advanced and fan-focused sports and entertainment venue in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adelman originally had plans to construct a new arena downtown<\/a> but announced the switch to the south Philadelphia site in January.
