L. MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. – President Trump took the stage inside Mack Trucks in Lower Macungie Township. It is a major manufacturer in Pennsylvania’s highly competitive seventh congressional district.<\/p>\n
Incumbent Republican Ryan Mackenzie is squaring off against Democrat Firefighter Union President Bob Brooks in the seventh district race.<\/p>\n
Mackenzie was joined alongside several other members of Congress at the event.<\/p>\n
“We got to get Ryan MacKenzie elected. We got to get Ryan. I’m not here for them; I’m here for him,” said President Trump.<\/p>\n
Mackenzie touted the work he said he and the President have done to bring jobs to the Lehigh Valley, citing recent investments by Eli Lilly, Nokia, and B. Braun.<\/p>\n
“In Washington, President Trump and I are working every day for the past year-and-a-half to give our workers’ families and industries a chance to thrive after years of lackluster leadership that set our communities back,” said Congressman Mackenzie.<\/p>\n
Brooks, his opponent, is calling the congressman’s first term an “absolute disaster” for hardworking people in the region.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Brooks said in part:<\/p>\n
“Career politician Ryan Mackenzie is no friend to working people. He is a liar who campaigned on a promise to lower costs but has instead voted in lockstep with his boss Donald Trump to jack up prices, rip away health care, and spend billions of dollars on a needless war overseas.”<\/p>\n
So far, more than $3 million has been poured into this congressional race.
